Clinton County Open Lands, Inc.
"To permanently preserve our agricultural and natural heritage by preserving agricultural land, natural areas and waterways in and near Clinton County, Ohio."
Leadership/board members: Laura Curliss, Charlene Ballard, Jon Branstrator, Dick Glaser, Chris Hodgson, Beth Mitchell, Jim O’Boyle, Terri Thobaben
Current projects/initiatives:
CCOL currently holds agricultural and conservation easements on 284 acres, and own a 2.4 acre urban nature preserve, Hunter Glen. For 2009, CCOL is working with five landowners to preserve an additional 1976 acres.
Past projects:
Each landowner who has donated an agricultural or conservation easement to CCOL, Inc. has done something very special for their families and future generations. Our landowners and our members are providing Clinton County with a “green” future – private lands permanently preserved for agriculture, natural areas and waterways.
How to get involved:
In addition to becoming a member of CCOL, we are looking for people with science backgrounds, particularly in biology, botany, soil and water conservation, farm sciences, to assist us with evaluating possible conservation projects. We can also use people with skills with photography, GPS and orienteering, reading surveys and maps, and GIS mapping skills. We also have a need for people with newsletter writing and desktop publishing, graphics for communications pieces. Finally, we can use people with bookkeeping, events planning and implementation, fundraising and development backgrounds or skills.
